Laura Mullin joined McKellar Structured Settlements Inc. in 1992, fully intending to work hard for a few years to pay off her student debt, and then head to an esteemed and highly-ranked law school. Instead, she has stayed put for over 30 years – never once regretting that decision.
After learning everything she could from the pioneers of structured settlements, Laura herself became a Certified Structured Settlement Consultant in 2001. Since then, she has met with hundreds of individuals to assist in bringing financial certainty to their lives. This is the favourite part of her job.
She also helped create the detailed protocols for McKellar’s comprehensive Accident Benefits and Future Care valuation reports, beginning in 1994 with Ontario’s Bill 164 legislation
In addition to structured settlement consultation, Laura creates and presents seminars for plaintiff lawyers, insurance defence lawyers, adjusters, case managers, judges, and any other organizations interested in hearing more about how structured settlements can assist all parties in successfully resolving complex personal injury claims. The seminars are approved for continuing education requirements for many professional associations.
Internally, she is Chair of McKellar’s Marketing Committee, and a member of the Management Committee.
In her personal life, Laura has bucked the recent trend of baking sourdough bread, instead choosing to be an avid bagpiper. She is currently a proud member of St. Andrew’s College Association Pipe Band in Aurora, Ontario. Her husband and two children love hearing her play so much, they built Laura her very own (soundproof) bagpiping studio in the backyard.
